Our variable tariff prices are changing

Knowing that many of our members are facing a tough time because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve done everything we can to keep our prices low. However, wholesale energy costs have risen, which means that from Sunday 1 November, the price of our variable tariffs will go up.

The founders of People’s Energy, a community interest energy company set up with the aim of eradicating fuel poverty, have expressed their sadness at the decision of Nottingham City Council to sell Robin Hood Energy to British Gas.

We are now a community interest company

We are incredibly excited to announce that People’s Energy is now a Community Interest Company (CIC). This cements our credentials as a social enterprise. It doesn’t change who we are. It’s simply a formal way of saying that our focus is firmly on achieving social objectives - the things we believe in most passionately, like ending fuel poverty - and not in maximising profit for shareholders and owners. Those of you who’ve been with us for a while, already know this is how we’ve always operated. We are the only Community Interest Company (CIC) energy supplier in the UK.

The People's Energy Covid Community Fund

We launched this fund at the start of the crisis to help members of our community who found themselves in financial difficulty as a result of Covid-19. The Fund now stands at over £76,000 – an outstanding humanitarian response to the desperate circumstances so many people find themselves in. Thank you.

Update on our fight for energy justice

We set up a Change.org petition in April. We asked the UK Governments to help people unable to pay their energy bills because of financial hardship caused by the Covid-19 crisis. It’s been signed by nearly 10,000 people.

We've signed the Race at Work charter

We realise that it’s not enough to believe in equality – as a business and as individuals we have a responsibility to take positive action to make it happen. We’ve signed up to the Business in the Community Race at Work Charter, an initiative designed to improve outcomes for black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) employees in the UK.
