Knowing that many of our members are facing a tough time because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve done everything we can to keep our prices low. Back in March, we reduced our standard variable tariff by 4.6% . However, wholesale energy prices, and the costs of supplying energy to you, have been rising since July. That means, for members on our variable tariffs, the cost of energy is going to go up. From Sunday 1 November 2020, the price of our variable tariffs will go up by 3.8%.
The price change only affects our members on one of our variable tariffs. It won’t affect you if you’re on our prepayment tariff, or one of our fixed tariffs.
It means that if you’re on one of our variable tariffs, you’re likely to see your annual energy costs increase. We’ll be in touch with you by email to let you know what these changes will mean for you.
By absorbing some of the cost of rising wholesale energy prices, we’ve held off increasing our variable tariff rates as long as possible. We know that nobody likes prices to go up. However, our variable tariffs remain great value.
If you’re on one of our variable tariffs, you might consider moving to one of our fixed tariffs. These are usually cheaper than our variable tariffs, and they’re often cheaper than other suppliers too, because we buy the energy upfront.
You might also be cheaper changing supplier. There are no exit fees on our variable tariffs, so you’re free to leave at any time. A change of supply can take up to 21 days. If you sign up with another supplier on or before Saturday 31 October, and your start date with that new supplier is before Friday 20 November, then we’ll continue to bill you at your current tariff rate until you leave us.
