In the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests we decided we would do more to make People’s Energy part of the solution. We’ve signed up to the Business in the Community Race at Work Charter, an initiative designed to improve outcomes for black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) employees in the UK. We know that, in general, ethnic minorities are still treated unfairly when it comes to the workplace, and we’re going to do our bit to tackle that. By signing up we’ve agreed to take practical steps to ensure People’s Energy is tackling barriers that ethnic minority people face in recruitment and progression - and that our workforce is representative of British society today. This is much more than a box-ticking exercise for People’s Energy. We realise that it’s not enough to believe in equality – as a business and as individuals we have a responsibility to take positive action to make it happen.
